Dear Family and Friends –
Its' that time again - time for the annual Candlelighters Fun Walk! Please mark your calendars to come out and walk with us on Saturday, September 7th at Terry Hershey park to help raise money for children with cancer and their families.
Last year, because of friends like you, we were able to raise over $160,000 for our children with cancer and thier families.
I cannot believe that it has been fifteen years since I joined Candlelighters! As you all know, I have the great privilege of working with families that are facing or have faced childhood cancer. I love my job and one of the very best aspects of my job is the chance to meet all the families and become friends with them. This is very near and dear to my heart.
Every year, we host a camp for children with cancer, their brothers and sisters, and their moms and dads for a weekend of fun at Camp For All. Candlelighters philosophy is when a child is diagnosed with cancer, the whole family is in “crisis” so we include siblings and parents in all of our activities. At camp, everyone rides horses, goes down the zip line (yes, even me), fishes, shoots arrows and eats s’mores by the campfire.
The Candlelighters Board was gracious enough to let me bring Tyler and Morgan with me to camp, since I would have to be gone all weekend and it’s a “family affair.” My kids have had the great priviledge of knowing many kids with cancer and many of those are now survivors. Tyler is now even thinking of going into the medical field because of this!
This year, the Wheelers – John, Tyler, Morgan and I – are forming a walk team. We are going to walk for Tyler’s and Morgan's camp friends like Alden and Hannah and Blake and Braedon and for all the other kids facing childhood cancer. We are going to walk for all the moms and dads who face childhood cancer. Please take a few minutes to watch this video and learn more!
I would love to have you join us, to donate to our team or to form a family team of your own! The Fun Walk is Saturday, September 7 2019 at Terry Hershey Park and begins at 9 a.m. Thank you so much to all my awesome friends who have walked or supported us in the past. We love you all!
Lynn, John, Tyler and Morgan
